“The Hunger Games” Has Sold More Advance Tickets Than Any Other Non-Sequel
The Hunger Games is probably the most anticipated movie of the year, and now Fandango has confirmed it.
The online movie ticket seller announced Tuesday that the movie has sold more advance tickets than any other non-sequel ever.
By the end of today the film will be sold out at more than 2,000 showtimes. The Hunger Games has also accounted for 92% of Fandango’s daily ticket sales.
Despite those huge sales numbers, The Hunger Games has yet to crack Fandango’s Top 5 All-Time Advance Ticket Sellers, but there is still time. Fandango rep Harry Medved believes it will appear on the list by Thursday night.
The current top five:
- The Twilight Saga: New Moon
- Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2
- The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1
- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
- Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 1.
Although The Hunger Games is only the first entry in series, it’s already selling per-release tickets as if it were a highly anticipated sequel. At this point a $100 million debut weekend seems like a definite.
It seems the sky’s the limit for The Hunger Games.
