[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adam Lambert[/lastfm] is blowing UP the music scene this month. His newest video, “Better Than I Know Myself” is super hot-AND he has HUGE news for the music world.

Lambert confirmed that he will be hitting the music scene as the frontman for LEGENDARY rock group, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Queen[/lastfm].

Queen has been searching for a replacement singer for many years (but really, how can you replace [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Freddie Mercury[/lastfm]?), and teamed up with Lambert for American Idol season 8. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] was a rumored contender for the gig, but Lambert’s rocker edge won out.

Queen drummer Roger Taylor sung Lambert’s praises to Billboard Magazine back in December 2011. He said:

“[Lambert] has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that’s great. We would like to work with him again. There’s nothing signed just yet but we’re talking about live dates. It could be very exciting.”

Lambert himself is thrilled about the opportunity to pay tribute to the late Freddie Mercury, a person who has inspired his own musical career. He told Britain’s Daily Star:

“The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some… great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of….There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honor and one I’m in no way going to shirk. Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen.”
