Originally popularised separately by Bing Crosby and Perry Como sixty years ago (with 46,960 and 9,264 listeners apiece for their versions), the most popular rendition amongst Last.fm users is by evergreen entertainer Johnny Mathis. Recorded in 1986, its inclusion in the film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York has pushed its modern popularity upwards with children of the early 1990s.

Mathis’ entire top five at Last.fm currently is comprised of his Christmas songs, with “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” out on top. Counting 99,693 scrobbles from 53,419 listeners, it seems that fans think the track sounds a lot like Christmas, too.
