Lite’s Review Room – Weekend Movies: “Breaking Dawn Part I” & “The Descendents”
When a huge blockbuster comes out, very few movie studios want to bother fighting with it. Something like Twilight Breaking Dawn Part I will dominate this weekend at the box office. But if you’re not into vampires and werewolves or you just don’t want to deal with the crowds this weekend; there is an Oscar buzz movie and cold penguins to go see at the theater.
Our Queen of the Silver Screen, Julie Fisk, has seen the latest and ehhh not so greatest.

The latest in the Twilight series, “Breaking Dawn Part 1” hits theaters this weekend. The final book in the Stephanie Meyers series has been split into 2 movies, and this one opens with the wedding of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen.
[photogallerylink id=61565 align=left]Fans of the “Twilight” books have been waiting for this day, not just to see Bella’s wedding dress, but also because of the big CONSUMATION that comes not long after. I wish I could tell you that “Breaking Dawn Part 1” lived up to my expectations and that I was swooning the whole time, but that’s not the case.
Like the “Twilight” movies before it, “Breaking Dawn Part 1” suffers from bad writing and even worse acting. Sometimes the moments between Edward and Bella are so awkward, they’re painful to watch. I noticed that people were even laughing through the more serious scenes.
I was pleased with the wedding and especially the scene where Jacob imprints, which was my favorite moment in the entire book series, but there simply isn’t enough in “Breaking Dawn” the book to make up 2 entire films, and that’s why I’m giving it a D. [photogallerylink id=62066 align=right]
But it doesn’t really matter, does it? Because you are going to see this movie anyhow, and you SHOULD, because as awful as “Breaking Dawn Part 1” is, my inner-13-year-old was still cheering and jumping up & down. Yes, it IS a terrible movie, but if you read the Twilight series, you are going to see this movie no matter what I say. In fact, why are you even reading this?
