Earlier this summer, Marine combat instructor Corporal Kelsey DeSantis issued an invitation to [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Justin Timberlake[/lastfm] via YouTube to be her date to the Marine Corp Ball in Richmond, VA. He accepted, and this weekend, he made good on his promise.
Timberlake posted on his website about his experience at the ball, stating that it “turned out to be one of the most moving evenings I’ve ever had.”
He spent part of the evening chatting with Corporal DeSantis and her friends. He listened to her talk about her training, martial arts, and discipline. He laughed with her friends and felt very close to the group of Marines.
One of the most touching parts of the night was a video with footage from Pearl Harbor, World War II, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It was filled with first hand accounts that had the entire room so quiet, Timberlake remarked, “you could hear a pin drop.”
Justin’s parting words on his blog were, “Thank you Corporal Kelsey DeSantis. Thank you for inviting me. And, thank you for being my hero.”
