An ugly game early and a back and fourth game late ended with a walk off home run from St. Louis native David Freese and a 10-9 victory for the St. Louis Cardinals in 11 innings. The Rangers were within one strike of winning the World Series twice and couldn’t close the door.
A 7-5 lead in the 9th inning evaporated when Freese tripled in two runs to tie the game. A Josh Hamilton home run in the top of the 10th gave the Rangers another two run lead but the bullpen lost the lead again. No offense showed up for the Rangers in the 11th and David Freese hit a solo home run to dead center field to force a decisive game 7 Friday night at 7:05pm.
This game didn’t turn out the way the Rangers had hoped, but might be considered one of the greatest games ever played.
