[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adele[/lastfm] isn’t the only singer having voice troubles. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]John Mayer[/lastfm] underwent surgery to help heal his voice, and now he’s under orders to keep quiet until everything heals.

He’s sitting at home, picking out guitar riffs from songs on the radio, and dreaming of the big stage. The only difference between John Mayer now versus his 18 year old self is that he’s a Grammy-winning artist with a record waiting for his vocals.

He posted a note on his Tumblr giving his fans an update on his condition. After canceling a number of concert dates and two weeks of voice rest with no change, Mayer had surgery to remove a granuloma, a nodule of inflammation, from just above his vocal chords. He’s now been given a month or more of voice rest during which, he says, he will travel.
