Fans of Tony Romo are more fickle than the stock market, and while many of them are jumping ship this week, there’s one high-profile fan who isn’t abandoning the Cowboys quarterback. That fan is Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk showed his support for Romo to his 294,000 Twitter followers through an open tweet to the quarterback.

Dirk Nowitzki is no stranger to the critics and nay-sayers who dogged him for years. He has faced years of criticism for shining in the regular season only to stumble through playoffs and fall short. That is, until this year. Now the 2011 NBA Finals MVP has some encouraging words for Tony Romo.

“Dear tony romo. Don’t worry abt all the critics. I heard the same garbage for a long time. Keep hard and keep improving,” says Nowitizki from his Twitter account. The open tweet was sent out on Monday after the Cowboys’ 24-point meltdown.

Perhaps the message sent out to Dirk’s 294,000 followers had a dual purpose. One to for the fans to give Romo a break, and one to Romo, win the title to silence the critics.
