It’s a little early in the NFL season, but word has it the half time performer for this year’s Super Bowl is already known.  The information was leaked to SB Nation earlier today.  The performer for Super Bowl XLVI will be the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna.

Taking a break from directing films and hating hydrangeas it seems that Madonna will be taking the stage in Indianapolis for the Super Bowl half time show.   The most watched event in American television every year, it’s hard to believe that Madonna has never actually acceded the stage and played to the millions watching.  [photogallerylink id=54816 align=right]

She was rumored to be the performer in 1998 but a deal couldn’t be reached.  Then two years later she backed out at the last minute.

No confirmation from the NFL yet, and no word on if she will have any friends from the music industry join her on stage.  However, it’s a safe bet that her friend from her hit single “4 Minutes”, Justin Timberlake, will be there.  We all remember what happened last time he performed at half time.
