John Wayne Memorabilia To Be On Display In Dallas Before Auction
John Wayne is one of the most memorable figures in Hollywood history. His family is offering up some of his personal and professional memorabilia up for auction, including one of the eye-patches he wore as Rooster Cogburn in the original True Grit. Some of this famous memorabilia will be on display in Dallas this weekend.
John Wayne always made himself available to his fans, and while museums have large collections of his belongings, his family wishes to do the same for his fans by making an expansive collection of personal and professional memorabilia available for public auction in October.
Among the items up for bids are scripts, 700 costumes, and personal effects such as his driver’s license, passport, and personal letters to and from U.S. Presidents and other Hollywood stars. The scripts have his handwritten notes in the margins. Who wouldn’t want to have the actual cowboy hat he wore as Rooster Cogburn?
Heritage Auctions, the world’s third largest auction house, will be holding a public exhibition of John Wayne memorabilia in Dallas starting Friday, September 16th through Sunday, September 18th from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Over 100 items will be on display at the Heritage Auctions Galleries, 11th floor, 3500 Maple Ave in Dallas.
