There’s no denying it… Dallas is hot! This is officially the hottest summer ever, and we are smashing records today. True to Texas fashion, Dallas is going big and breaking not one, but two records for heat today.
We’ve been talking about it all summer long. The summer of 1980 has been our measuring stick as it was the last time Dallas felt like the surface of the sun. That was the year that the longest streak of 100+ degree days was set (a record we fell shy of this year). That was also the year with the most days over 100 degrees. The record set in 1980 was 69 days over 100, and we matched that yesterday.
Today, we will break that record. Our forecasted high is a scorching 106. We will quite possibly be over 100 again tomorrow with a forecasted high of 101.
Not only are we breaking the big record for the whole summer today. The record high for September 13th is 100, set in 1965.

KRLD’s Krista Villarreal says we might not be done yet. The latest recorded high over 100 degrees was in in October. While we’re in for a cool down over the weekend, it’s possible that we haven’t seen the last of the triple digit heat.
