It was a slow weekend for the box office, the top 10 movies of the weekend pulled in $66.4 million collectively, making this weekend the slowest of the year. Despite the drag in ticket sales, viral thriller Contagion opened at the top of the list this weekend.
Contagion, the thriller about a deadly global virus, raked in $23.1 million. The Steven Soderbergh film is chocked full of Oscar winners, including Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet, and Gwenyth Paltrow.

Chick flick favorite, The Help, dropped to second place this weekend. After spending 25 days at in the top spot, The Help suffered its biggest dip, earning $8.7 million. Warrior debuted at third place, the mixed martial arts drama pulling in $5.6 million. The Debt and Colombiana round out the top 5 with $4.9 and $4.0 million respectively.
If you’re looking watch a movie at home this week, the early summer blockbusters are starting to make their way to video shelves. X-Men: First Class came out last week, and Thor hits shelves tomorrow.
