They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Madonna[/lastfm] doesn’t seem too flattered.

The comparisons between the Material Girl and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] have been profound and constant throughout Gaga’s career, and for the most part Gaga seems a-okay with it.  Our meat-dress loving friend even told Jay Leno, “There is really no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan personally and professionally.”

So, what does Madonna think of all this?

Pas beaucoup, apparently…

In a recent interview with Belgian magazine LeSoir, Madonna answered questions about her most ardent admirer. Here’s one: “As for Lady Gaga, I have no comment on her obsessions related to me, because I do not know if it is based on something profound or superficial.”

Ouch… I think.

If imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, then apathy is the sincerest form of disdain. Gaga, girl – you’ve been dissed.

According to AceShowBiz, Madonna’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, quickly straightened out the apparent diss, saying “I do know that [Madonna] has said many supportive things about Gaga over the years.”
