Lead singer Ryan Tedder of One Republic says that the band “does things backwards.” They had a hit song “Apologize” before they had an album. They’re a rock band with a hip-hop producer (Timbaland). In fact the hit version of “Apologize” is from Timbaland’s album, and different from their original version.
Tedder was a 21 year old working at Pottery Barn in Nashville, had appeared on MTV as a solo pop act when Timbaland spotted him.

Tedder comes from a “music” family – his father was a songwriter in the 70s, and he took up piano at age three, and singing at seven. He not only writes for his band, but also wrote “Bleeding Love” for Leona Lewis. His goal is to write “choruses that give goose bumps,” so when you hear “Good Life” on Lite-FM, you’ll no doubt find out what he means.
