Emma Stone stars in a new film about a Southern society girl in the 1960’s who returns from college determined to become a writer, and what she writes about turns her small Mississippi town upside down. Julie Fisk tells Gene & Julie what she thought about The Help.
The Help is a very inspirational story set during the heat of the civil rights movement. Emma Stone plays Skeeter, a young woman who dreams of being a writer. Skeeter comes to recognize the mistreatment of the housekeepers and help who work in her house and the homes of her friends and neighbors. She decides to write a tell-all book from the vantage point of the women working in these homes.
This wonderful film is directed by actor-turner-director Tate Taylor. He does an amazing job with a beautiful story. You will fall in love with the characters in this film. Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer turn in Oscar-worthy performances.
Julie Fisk suggests avoiding eating before the movie. There is so much food that you will be craving fried chicken afterwards.
