It’s easy to forego wearing makeup in this heat, but we still want to look good. Kimberly Schlegel Whitman has some hot beauty tips that won’t melt.
Here are some makeup tips that won’t weigh you down:
- Start with sunscreen - Always important to protect your skin from sun damage. This will also prevent those pesky sun spots.
- Skip heavy foundation - Instead, use a tinted moisturizer or powder-based foundation. Kim recommends Texas-based Susan Posnick’s ColorFlo.
- Put away lipstick & lip liner - Use a lip gloss to keep your lips feeling light and fresh.
- Skip eyeshadow - Eyeshadow can get cakey. Put a primer on your lids and then sweep a little bronzer across your lid to add definition. Finish off with liquid eye liner and water-proof mascara.
You don’t want your hair to heat you up. Pull your hair up off of your neck with a ponytail or a bun. Kim recommends Goody’s Spin Pins as a neat spiral bobby pin to keep your bun locked in place.
Keep you skin looking fresh by using a body wash with salicylic acid and a gradual tanning lotion. Be sure to wear bug spray to prevent any unsightly bug bites.
Finally, treat yourself to a pedicure and pick a bright color.
