Katy Perry’s latest single, “Last Friday Night (TGIF),” has smashed through chart records held by Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga, but she’s fallen just shy of Michael Jackson’s record of 5 No. 1 singles off a single album… for this week at least.
According to The Wrap, Four singles off of Teenage Dream have landed Katy Perry at the top of the Billboard pop charts, putting her in company with Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake. ”Last Friday Night (TGIF)” is the 5th single, and if it hits No. 1 next week, she will be tied with Michael Jackson’s record of hit singles from a single album.
Perry was denied this week by LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” which has been sitting atop the charts for 5 weeks straight. If she doesn’t succeed with her current single, there’s always the next single as it appears as if EMI isn’t done churning out singles from Teenage Dream.
