From slim-fitting pencil skirts to super-tight skinny jeans, fashion these days seems to be more body conscious than ever and, ironically, on the extreme end of the bell curve. Actually, curve is the right word: the average American woman is sensual and curvy rather than flat and sleek like the figure of typical models and many celebrities.
Thankfully, the fashion industry is slowing changing its strict sizist rules. While we are waiting for the modern, diet-obsessed world to catch up with the curvy girl, we still have plenty of options–like tweaking styles for the overly-skinny girl into gorgeous looks appropriate for the real girl.
Our Get Real! fashion inspiration this week is Kate Middleton. Want her preppy princess look? We’ve found the Get Real! version of four of her fabulous looks.
Look: Red-Hot & Refined
Kate Middleton looks red-hot but refined in this stunning suit. We modernized the look a little, making it less stuffy and more playful ’60s secretary.
A shell top rather than a blazer is perfect for the hot summer months, but the look is still dressed up and girlie with heart-shaped diamond stud earrings, a leaf brooch from Tiffany & Co, some sophisticated, leg lengthening nude Christian Louboutins, and a nude snake-skin clutch.

Look: Preppy Daytime Chic
Royalty can’t be dressed up all the time, but Kate Middleton keeps it chic and classy with fitted indigo jeans, a navy blazer, a ruffled front cream shirt, and comfy, but height-increasing black canvas espadrilles.
We’ve found a similar outfit for you in Get Real! sizes. Throw on some minimal make-up, add some shine to your hair and nails, and you are ready for casual Friday, a daytime lunch date, or jet-setting over the pond.

Look: Classic Cocktail Glamor
Whether you are getting married, going to homecoming, or a formal event, we’ve found a fantastic modified version of Kate Middleton’s wedding day glamor.
A great resource for chic, trendy looks for curvy women, ASOS Curve has a lace cream-colored cocktail dress with a practically identical neckline.
The dress would look great with some sparkly diamond drop earrings, lace and satin heels from Valentino, and a cute “tiara” headband.
Because every girl deserves a crown.

Look: So Fresh & So Green
Kate Middleton loves color and she wears it well. She usually chooses one color, wears it as a solid, and then combines it with interesting, but subtle accessories and nude pumps.
Dorothy Perkins has great clothing for the Get Real! sized woman and we found this green dress on there which has a very similar style to Kate’s green dress. With some kitten-ish nude Jimmy Choo slingbacks and a classic Tiffany heart charm bracelet, this look is already fun, fresh, and chic.
But the best part of the outfit is the Judith Leiber ombre python leather minaudiere with a touch of green in the clasp–almost like what Kate is clutching.
