Atlantis landed safely this morning at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, ending the 30 year NASA shuttle program.
What’s next for Atlantis?
Hundreds were gathered in the pre-dawn darkness to celebrate Atlantis‘ final homecoming. Atlantis will remain at Kennedy Space Center as a museum piece. Atlantis completed its final mission of restocking the International Space Station. While this is the end of the 30-year shuttle program, NASA is setting its sights for bigger things. Upcoming destinations will be landing astronauts on an asteroid and Mars.
