Stevie Nicks Reveals the Inspiration Behind New Single ‘For What It’s Worth’
Artists tend to find inspiration and do a lot of writing while they travel the country on tour. That couldn’t be more true for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Stevie Nicks[/lastfm], whose song “For What It’s Worth” was inspired by her summer on tour with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers[/lastfm] in what she calls “the best summer of my life.”
Stevie Nicks has become an honorary Heartbreaker from her time on the road with Tom Petty, which fueled her songwriting fire when she penned “For What It’s Worth.” The track comes off of her latest album, In Your Dreams, which has received positive reviews.
Nicks also says the album “feels like the best thing I’ve ever done,” and many would seem to agree, as In Your Dreams sold 52,000 copies in its first week of release and debuted at number six on the Billboard 200, giving Nicks her fifth top ten album on that chart.

Nicks recently finished up a tour with Rod Stewart and has shows scheduled through August and into September. Perhaps she’ll have another adventurous summer and find much more inspiration for her songwriting.
