The mystery has been solved. It turns out that the reason Maria Shriver left Arnold Schwarzenegger after 25 years of marriage was because she found out that he had fathered a child with a long-time member of their household staff more than a decade ago.

Maria Shriver moved out of the home she shared with Arnold Schwarzenegger after he acknowledged the child was his. The staff member continued to work for the couple until earlier this year. “After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement issued to the newspaper. “I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.”
