Howling to the heavens that Friday is the most awesome day of the week is a cliché for a reason–because for most people it’s true. It’s time to decompress, get your party on, maybe even tear up a dancefloor or two. Even if that dancefloor is just your living room.

In honor of the usually frightening Friday the 13th folk tales, we took our time machine back to a year when dance music was fun, upbeat, and positive: 1990.  Alright, stop. Collaborate and listen. Although Vanilla Ice a.k.a Robert Matthew Van Winkle is basically a household name right now after appearing on multiple reality television shows and having an infamous career as one of the first “white rappers,” in Van Winkle’s “Ice Ice Baby” era he was just making a name for himself.
