2011 will see lots of new music from soul artist Jill Scott, most notably an album of brand new material and an album of covers and unreleased songs.
After a lengthy absence from music, Last.fm Trends looks at the career of Jill Scott to date to see if she needs some new material to re-ignite some fire into her career.
Five studio albums and various other releases have given the singer from Philadelphia a total scrobble count of 4,732,305, comfortably beating some of her similar artists such as Angie Stone (2,468,094 scrobbles) and Goapele (933,357 scrobbles).
Her most popular release to date has been Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2, which has just broken the million scrobble barrier with 1,022,202 scrobbles. The album contains the track “Golden”, which was on the soundtrack to movies such as Beautiful Shop and Obsessed and now boasts 207,001 scrobbles.
Her weekly top tracks chart suggests the need for new material, with her top track of the last week, “A Lone Walk”, taking in just 930 listeners. With such an impressive overall scrobble count, she surely has the potential for so much more.
