[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lenny Kravitz[/lastfm] has taken some time off in the past three years, but is ready to get working on his ninth studio album titled Black and White America.
He promises that his first release in three years will be his most musically and lyrically ‘diverse’ release yet.
The title Black and White America refers to his experiences growing up “in between a so-called black and white world,” and the changes the U.S. recently made with the election of Barack Obama as the first black President.
Kravitz explained, “My life has always been about contrasts, and it reflects on not only my life and what I’ve gone through with my parents and what I saw growing up, but also where we are now as far as this country.”
The release will include 12 up-tempo tracks that mixes Kravitz’s signature rock sound with elements from funk and soul from the ’60-’70s. Some of the track names include “Stand, “You’re Gonna Run Again,” “Push” and “Super Love.” His new album is set for release in mid 2011 and he will embark on a worldwide tour starting in June.
