[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm] isn’t putting out a new album this year, but he will make a guest appearance on the Dropkick Murphys’ upcoming album.
Due March 1 via Born & Bred Records, Going Out of Style is the Dropkick Murphys’ seventh studio album.
Track #12 on the 13-track collection will be a fresh cover of “Peg o’ My Heart,” with Bruce Springsteen taking over on lead vocals for frontman Ken Casey, who expressed excitement to bridge the gap between Springsteen’s heyday and the Dropkick Murphys’ current run.
“It links two generations,” Casey told Consequence of Sound.
“We’re spanning a lot of years of music here, yet our songs share similar themes, stories, and values.”
It’s extremely unlikely, however, that The Boss will join the Dropkicks on any of their 40-plus upcoming tour dates, including their annual St. Patrick’s Day weekend takeover of the House of Blues in Boston.
