Five months after filming a music video in downtown Dallas, [lastfm]Erykah Badu [/lastfm]has paid a $500 fine and will serve six months of probation for stripping during the music video shoot in the West End area.
In March, Erykah Badu performed a walking striptease for her ‘Window Seat’ music video at Dealey Plaza, where President John F. Kennedy was fatally shot in 1963.
Dallas (Texas) Police in April cited her for disorderly conduct after a witness made a sworn complaint.
A number of children were among the tourists and other random passers-by seen in the guerrilla style production video.
The video ends with a nude Badu falling to the ground as if she has been shot.
She admits her artistic stunt has been “grossly misunderstood.”[pullquote quote="Kennedy was a revolutionary; he was not afraid to butt heads with America, and I was not afraid to show America..."]
On the Wanda Sykes show back in April, Badu told Sykes, “J.F.K. is one of my heroes, one of the nation’s heroes … Kennedy was a revolutionary; he was not afraid to butt heads with America, and I was not afraid to show America my butt-naked truth.”
[lastfm]Erykah Badu[/lastfm] was born and raised in South East Dallas. She still lives in Dallas around the White Rock Lake area.
She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and got her start at Dallas’ local community radio station, KNON.
