Julia Roberts admits if she wasn’t acting she’d be a vet
Julia Roberts did not dream of becoming an actress when she was young but wanted to dedicate her life to helping animals, she has revealed.
“The Eat, Pray, Love” star has opened up about youthful ambition, explaining: “I wanted to be a vet. I love animals but then I discovered how hard science can be.” Roberts instead ended up in the family business – acting.
The 42 year-old’s parents Betty Lou and Walter Roberts, were at one-time actors and playwrights while her brother and sister are also performers. “My parents and siblings are all actors, so I grew up around it,” she said.
“It’s a great way to observe human behaviour and how people react to things. It’s like grown-up pretend. My daughter does it all day, I just get paid for it.”
The passionate environmentalist also spoke about her commitment to green living telling Stylist magazine: “It’s probably my greatest concern, besides my babies….I also drive a biodiesel car and we compost everything.
“It’s a big commitment with three kids but there’s so much valuable waste, you sort of have to.”
