Billboard has been counting the Jackson estate revenue streams since his ill-fated death on June 25, 2009 and estimates that $1 billion has been made.
– $429 million was generated from music sales, including albums, singles and downloads.
–Sony Music’s 10 album deal with the Jackson estate encompassing old and unreleased tracks is worth $31 million.
–Even though the “This Is It” tour was cancelled losing close to $7 million, when all was said and done, the tour’s merchandise and licensing grossed $35 million.
– The “This Is It” movie, which made $261 million at the worldwide box office, turned in $392 million after TV and DVD earnings were counted.
–Music publishing accounts for $130 million based on monies from the Mijac publishing company administered by Warner/Chappell and Jackson’s share of Sony/ATV.
